Roads in #Ukraine - Porubne to Kyiv - June 2024 - 🇺🇦 🇬🇧
This is a trip back into Ukraine to deliver aid to the East and the South near the front lines. I have entered through the Siret-Porubne border crossing point about 7 hours drive due North of Bucharest. There is a patch of road for about 80kms on the way which we call 'washing machine' road, as you feel you are in a spin cycle being tossed around. To call this section a road is to be very kind. Years of neglect have left parts of it in a shocking state, so enjoy the tips on getting through this section of road if you go that way.
Can I please encourage people globally to support Ukraine if you haven't already and continue if you have. They need our support more than ever given Ukraine is acting as a shield for the rest of us and thousands of Ukrainians have already given their lives to win back their freedom, democracy and territorial independence and protect ours. So please donate to us to help Ukraine or our partners we work with.
A special mention of thanks for the ongoing support to Ukraine needs to go to:
- Helping Our Ukrainian Friends HelpingUkrainesSurgeons/
- Stamford Supports Ukraine Group and all its volunteers
- H.U.G.S. hugsukraine.org/ for tireless work across a range of ongoing programs to help Ukraine and for painting and giving a mechanical bill of health to the ambulances.
I am proud to be an official volunteer in Ukraine and continue to support Ukraine with my mates Max, Neil and special groups of likeminded souls all doing their part. All are legends, a collective of big hearted souls from around the world, with one common aim, support Ukraine until victory.
Anybody who wishes to help by donating can use the existing links below. I make regular trips into Ukraine to deliver aid and people are welcome to accompany me. You can use the channel email dylan@sustaineukraine.org to get in touch. Genuine people only thanks. I can also organise for aid to get into the country via #Romania and provide logistical support in Ukraine via our interconnected volunteer network.

This was a quick day trip into Bulgaria to take a friend into another country. Plan was just to get in and out while our mate was waiting for his visa request to be finalised in Bucharest. We ended up in Veliko Tarnovo about 85 kms or an hours drive South from the border crossing at Ruse. What a great find! Beautiful little city which is the cultural and historic capital of the country. Set in ...
Fix the roads! Where did the money go over the years? #Ukraine - March 2024 - 🇺🇦 🇬🇧

Made this short video coming back from Kharkiv and Sumy delivering aid. Many of the secondary roads that still carry important cargo including farmers grain and produce and supplies for the effort, border on comical. There are many roads and sections of road that are simply a connection of potholes of varying sizes. This video is not aimed at denigrating Ukraine, it is frustration that a countr...

This short video is myself and Lucian taking the Jeep from Bucharest to the Ukrainian border at Siret-Porubne, where it was later picked up by brother Max and taken to Kyiv then Kharkiv. The #Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant has been off limits to tourists and nearly all visitors since the Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24th February 2022. It was briefly occupied by Russia until 29th March, when their forces withdrew, knowing that their assault on Kyiv had failed. As many as 120,000 tourists have visited Chernobyl in 1 year, including 75,000 in 2021, but the war and the invasion e...

Arriving in Izium or Izyum on the way to Kostyantynivka, to deliver food and medical aid. This is Part 2 of the drive. Izium was occupied by Russia from April 2022 until September 2022, before it was retaken by Ukraine. Vicious fighting in May to April 2022 before Russia captured the city and then the fight to retake it, has left it destroyed in most places, with much of the city empty and dese...

      It's safe on the known roads and tracks. Chernobyl town and Pripyat are ok. Some of the areas where the Russians dug in I would still not trust, but those areas are not the best to visit anyway given the elevated radiation rates after the Russians dug in there and disturbed a lot of the radiation in the red forest soil.

    • @BitsofEurope
      @BitsofEurope 3 дні тому

      There are a couple of sites near Chernobyl town where stuff was buried, the largest was at Buryakivka village, but its all buried now. Only a few things remain, in Pripyat itself is the old garage and machine working sheds and they still have few vehicles there including the claw from a crane used to remove rubble and its still a little radioactive. The Russians in 2022 during the brief occupation of Chernobyl actually stripped parts off these old vehicles including tyres over 30 years old! So most buried in Buryakivka and the rest cut up and melted.

    for ukraine roads are pretty good. I am German Man, drived by myself much more bad roads in Ukraine. Till 2013 I was in Ukraine drived more than 10000km, one eye always to the road, other eye to the landsscape

    • @BitsofEurope
      @BitsofEurope 3 дні тому

      I think you needed glasses even back then :) ....just joking....I agree some roads in general are very good, especially the highways running East to West and North to South, but some of the secondary roads once you get of those are not even roads, just connected potholes. But that's what years of corruption and neglect provide and one of the only good sides of the war, is that all Ukrainians have banded together for their country and they will demand better after the war. Look out anybody in government or council who trys to benefit from corruption after the war, the won't last long. I hope reconstruction money including the frozen billions from Russia will help provide new roads for Ukraine.

    loved the video..amazing how they have kept the trial room almost exactly as it was with the tables, curtains, etc. wow! Surreal to match the actual video of the trial with what is there today. That's a bucket list destination for sure for anyone interested in that part of the world and that part of history.

    Hi, this video is good material for ! I wanted to mention that in the TV Mini Series called "Comrade: The Making, Glory and Unmaking of a Dictator (2023)" they said the bullet holes in the wall where they executed Ceausescu are fake. They said they were made on purpose for an artistic film. What do you think?

    • @BitsofEurope
      @BitsofEurope 26 днів тому

      Good question. First thing is speaking to the lady who runs the museum, she has been there since 1989 and her husband was also in the Army at the time, a tank commander and he was ordered to secure Targoviste in case loyalists tried to rescue the Ceausescu's. She said the holes are real and she has no reason to lie, she is full of information and to her its a piece of history. Also the place is very well preserved, so you look at old photos and video from the trial and compare to my video and others, or what you see in person, its almost identical. As for outside, I am ex Army and would say those are real bullet holes, sometimes brick crumbles so a smaller bullet can make a larger hole. Some said the holes were too low to be aimed around the chest, well they were both pretty short people and for me the holes are chest height for them. Also if you compare the place where Nicolae's body ended up and during his examination on the ground you can see the stones and their lines clearly and those stones behind him line up with the stones in my video, also same windows, same colour etc. So no doubt about the spot. The only thing not quite correct is the outline of Nicolae's body, he did not fall lying on his side, he fell backward with his knees bent under him and head up against the wall, but I think easier to draw the outline the way it is now. There was a lot more damage to the stone lower down in 89, but I think later all the stone area had some paint or plaster washed over it. So do I think site is authentic and bullet holes real, yes I think so as the rest is 100% accurately preserved and there is no doubt from existing video that the outside location is where the firing squad shot from and at.

    Реактор 4 не может быть восстановлен, а если только если восстановлен то только с наружной стороны. Т.К внутреная часть реактора полностью разрушена, внутри есть ещё продукт ядерной лавы, которая засохла и превратился в слоновью ногу. Так что ребят не верьте всякой ерунде в интернете. А звуки которые издаются в внутри здания это рабочий реактор в другом месте, НО ТОЧНО НЕ В ЧАЭС!!! Надеюсь все поняля это.

    • @BitsofEurope
      @BitsofEurope Місяць тому

      Yes there are no reactors working in the CNPP. Last one decommissioned in 2000. Reactor 4 will never work again or any of them, they are all in the process of being dismantled with radioactive waste being stored onsite in a new containment area. This work will take another 20 years.
